Terms & Conditions

These general terms and conditions, disclaimers, and policies apply to the use of my website (www.studiometta.com), my services, and all associated digital content. By using the website or booking a session, you agree to these terms. If you disagree with (any part of) these terms, please do not use the website or services.

1. General information
The services of Studio Mettā, both on this website and during sessions, are intended solely for relaxation, stress reduction, and general wellbeing. They are not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have any health concerns, always consult a qualified medical professional before booking a session.

2. Scope of practice
I do not make medical diagnoses or prescribe treatments. Where necessary, I will refer you to a doctor. I use a variety of massage techniques, including pressure and stretching, but I do not perform manipulations as manual therapists, physiotherapists, or chiropractors do. My services are complementary to, and not a replacement for, professional healthcare.

3. Health and safety
Clients must disclose all relevant health conditions, injuries, allergies, or treatments prior to each session. Failing to do so may have adverse consequences. I am not liable for issues arising from undisclosed health information. Clients are responsible for their own health and wellbeing during and after the session.

4. Contraindications
Massage therapy is safe for most people, but is not suitable for certain health conditions. Please do not book or attend a massage if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, have a cold, or have a contagious condition, including skin conditions such as herpes, scabies, or ringworm.

Absolute contraindications (massage cannot take place):

  • Fever or active infection

  • Contagious conditions, including cold or flu

  • Neuritis

  • Under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or prescription painkillers

  • Recent surgery, fractures, or acute injuries

  • Skin conditions such as herpes, scabies, ringworm, lice, or shingles

Local contraindications (massage can continue, but the affected area will be avoided):

  • Varicose veins

  • Unexplained swellings or lumps

  • Pregnancy

  • Bruising

  • Cuts

  • Abrasions

5. Session duration and experience
Every session includes time for intake and grounding. If you arrive late, your session may be shorter. Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time, out of respect for other clients.

6. Client needs and boundaries
Your comfort and boundaries come first. You are encouraged to speak up about any discomfort straight away, and your privacy is respected throughout the session.

7. Personal hygiene, sobriety, and shower
Clients should arrive clean, freshly showered, and sober. Please avoid wearing heavey make-up or strong perfumes, as these can affect the quality of the session and may cause allergic reactions.

8. Post-massage aftercare
Drink plenty of water after your treatment and avoid caffeine. Avoid any straneous activities for the rest of the day. Mild muscle soreness is possible and can be eased with rest, stretching, and magnesium.

9. Products and oils
Only high-quality, natural, organic products are used. Options include almond oil, coconut oil, CBD blends, and custom formulations.

10. Cancellation and no-shows
Cancellations and rescheduling are accepted up to 48 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations (within 48 hours) or no-shows will be charged the full session fee. Repeated occurrences may result in future bookings being refused. Clients arriving more than 20 minutes late will be rescheduled and charged. If something comes up unexpectedly, you are welcome to send a friend or family member in your place. A lovely way to surprise someone and make the most of the reserved time.

11. Payment and pricing
Prices are listed transparently on the website and may be updated without prior notice.

12. Refund policy
Single Sessions, Group Sessions, Coaching Journey Packages and Gift Vouchers are non-refundable.

13. Packages

Coaching Journey Packages are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and must be used within that period. Expired credits or unused sessions are non-refundable.

14. Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers are non-refundable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and must be presented at the time of booking. Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

15. Confidentiality
All client information, including medical history, intake forms, and session notes, is strictly confidential and stored securely. Information is never shared without written consent, unless required by law.

16. Liability
All treatments are carried out with the highest level of care, skill, and professional integrity. By booking and attending a session, however, you acknowledge that you do so at your own risk. I am not liable for physical, psychological, or emotional injury, discomfort, or side effects that may occur during or after a treatment, particularly where these arise from undisclosed medical conditions, contraindications, or failure to follow aftercare advice.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Accidents within the premises, such as slipping, tripping, or falling in the massage room, hallway, toilet, or staircase, before, during, or after the session

  • Reactions to oils or products where sensitivities were not disclosed in advance

  • Clients are responsible for disclosing medical conditions in advance and for taking care when entering or leaving the space.

  • After a session, particularly following deeper pressure, energetic release, or a longer duration, you may feel temporarily disoriented, experience emotional shifts, or be in an altered state of awareness. Please take enough time to ground yourself and come back before driving a vehicle or undertaking any activity that requires your full attention.

17. Professional conduct
All services are explicitly non-sexual. Inappropriate language, gestures, or advances will result in the immediate termination of the session, with the full session fee charged.

18. Client behaviour
All physical responses are natural, including falling asleep, emotional release, or flatulence. Feel free to share any comfort concerns. This is a judgement-free space.

19. Accessibility
The studio in Amsterdam is on the 1st floor and is not wheelchair accessible.

20. External links and content
This website may contain external links for reference purposes. I am not responsible for the content, availability, or privacy policies of external websites.

21. Intellectual property
All text, images, graphic elements, and branding on this website are my intellectual property. Reproduction or use without express written permission is prohibited.

22. Clients under 18
Massage for clients under 18 requires written consent from a parent or legal guardian. A guardian may be present during the session if the client wishes or the therapist considers it appropriate.

23. Right to refuse treatment
I reserve the right to refuse or end a session at any time if it feels unsafe, inappropriate, or outside my scope of practice or comfort.

24. Force majeure
I am not liable for any failure to deliver services due to circumstances beyond my reasonable control, including natural disasters, accidents, strikes, pandemics, or government measures.

25. Changes
I reserve the right to amend or update these terms at any time without prior notice. Clients are encouraged to review these terms regularly.

26. Health insurance
The massages offered are not covered by Dutch health insurance.

27. Spiritual experiences and energetic discharges
Traditional Thai Yoga Massage and other energetic treatments can sometimes bring up profound emotional or spiritual experiences, including sensations of energy flow, emotional catharsis, or spontaneous energetic awakenings.

While these responses can be deeply healing for some, they can also be intense and unpredictable. By participating you acknowledge that you are voluntarily engaging in energy work and that such experiences are part of your personal journey. I am not liable for after-effects, interpretations, or consequences of energetic discharges during or after the session.

28. Collaboration
A positive outcome is created through collaboration between therapist and client. Both contribute to bringing about the change you are looking for.

By using this website and booking services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
